Using an external sensor

The 5V(USB)/12V powered sensor

We decided not to develop our own hardware, but to use an "off-the-shelf" product.

We have chosen a micro controller from M5Stack - the AtomS3.

This device has an extremely small design, contains the necessary sensor and also features a display to show additional information.

It can be powered either via 5V/USB-C or 12V directly from you vehicle battery.

The micro controller costs around 18-25 euros plus shipping, depending on the supplier.

Notes

The micro controller will be delivered without a USB cable and other mounting material - this can be acquired separately. More details on the following pages.

The micro controller will be delivered with standard/demo firmware. We supply our own firmware, which you must install. This firmware only works with this specific micro controller and is not compatible with other devices from M5Stack (or other manufacturers).
